The Detox Smoothie You Need In Your Life

If you follow me on snap chat, you saw that I made quite the green smoothie this weekend.

I call it my “detox smoothie” but it should really be called my “everything, super food, incredibly amazing” smoothie. It’s my “I splurged all weekend and my body needs nutrients” smoothie. As well as my ” I drank too much last night” smoothie, or even my “dang it, I’m getting sick” smoothie.

Aka – my everything smoothie.

There is so much nutrition packed in it, that after I drink it, I immediately feel better.

This smoothie has over 277% of your daily Vitamin A intake as well as over 46% of your daily Vitamin C intake. It’s filled with tons of calcium, iron, protein, healthy fats, potassium and just the right amount of good carbs.

Once again, everything.

Because of the ginger, this smoothie has a little bit of a kick to it, but if you have had my pink detox drink, you know I like things with a major kick.

I love drinking this smoothie after spin class, early mornings after indulging a little too much from the night before, or anytime I need a pick me up. It’s also a great smoothie for when you’re feeling bloated.

Why this smoothie is SO GREAT!

Bananas: Bananas are really high in potassium. Potassium helps regulate sodium levels, which prevents water retention. Salty foods are the root cause of bloating, so that’s why eating foods high in potassium are great of de-bloating.

Coconut Water: Coconut water is super hydrating, is filled with electrolytes and is also high in potassium.

Ginger: Ginger is a natural anti-inflammatory food as well as a digestive aid.

Pineapple: Pineapple has bromelian in it, which is a powerful digestive enzyme. The presence of this enzyme helps aid in digesting protein, breaking down fat, and reducing inflammation.

Spinach: Spinach is a great source of B12, B5, Vitamin A, Vitamin K, magnesium, fiber, protein, potassium and more. It’s also a great anti-inflammatory and helps to fight against cancer.

Coconut Oil: I can honestly say I’m obsessed with coconut oil, it is a true super food. It’s a healthy fat that increases energy, helps to speed up your metabolism, helps to reduce inflammation, it helps your body absorb more nutrients than it normally would, it boosts your immune system, helping to kill viruses, and it makes your skin and hair look healthier!

Bee Pollen: Bee pollen is filled with protein and vitamin B which helps enhance energy. I love bee pollen for when I am sick because it’s a great anti-inflammatory for your lungs. It helps treat allergies, it aids in digestion, and helps to boost your immune system.
