As you guys could probably guess, I have a good amount of clothing. Yet I still find myself standing in my closet complaining that I have nothing to wear. Why do we, as girls do this?! It’s crazy. Colton on the other hand has a wardrobe a third of mine and never seems to have this problem lol. In the past, in order to fill this “I have nothing to wear” void,  I would find myself buying clothes I didn’t really need.  Instead of buying practical purchases I would wear over and over, I was doing a lot of impulse buying. Ultimately, making my closet situation worse. I noticed in order to avoid this problem, I have really started asking my self a few short questions before every purchase. To keep myself from over spending and from buying unnecessary items.

Questions To Ask Yourself Before Buying Clothes

  1. What “trend” am I looking for?
  2. What is the material?
  3. Do I have anything similar to it? If the answer is “yes” then I ask the question, what sets this one apart from the one I already have. Does it look more comfortable? Is there something about the one that I already have that I do not like? Why should I buy this one as opposed to wearing the one I already own.
  4. What is the cost and is it actually worth that amount?
  5. How many different outfits can I wear this with? Is it a one time wear outfit?
  6. Does is look comfortable?
  7. Does it fit the season?

If I can answer all of these questions, then it is safe to say that it is a reasonable purchase! By answering all of these questions, it has really helped me stop impulse purchasing. I’d be lying to you if I said I followed these questions with every single buy, but I promise I really do try! It’s the best way to keep myself from buying things that I really do not need.

When it came to buying this ruffle sleeve blouse, I was able to answer all of these questions. The blue stripes and the cold shoulder make it perfectly trendy. I literally love the sleeves. The material is super comfortable. While I do have “a lot” or striped pieces, nothing comes close to this one. It’s perfectly priced and I can think of at least 5 different outfits I could wear it with. Funny story, I actually had a full on conversation with the girl at Nordstrom’s on this exact post when buying it. We sat there going back and forth with all of the different outfits I could wear it with lol. It made buying it that much more enjoyable!

What do you guys think of these tips?

xo,

Lauren

One of my fave blog posts so far! I’m so this way too. I’ll be shopping, have a ton of clothing in line to buy and by the time I get to the register to pay, I’ve dwindled it down to a piece or two lol.
