If I told you I was 100% on top of my diet and didn’t indulge in the least bit during vacation, it would be a total lie. I mean don’t getting me wrong, I am always mindful with my choices; but if we’re heading to the beach and someone’s making strawberry daiquiris, you can bet your bottom I’ll be having one. I mean, it’s vacation, you’re allowed to enjoy yourself!

With that being said, there is still nothing worse than coming home from vacation and feeling like you’ve taken three steps back. You work so hard leading up to it, only to feel like you have to start from square one when you return.

Literally the worst.

So the next vacation you go on, remember to enjoy yourself, but follow these tips to help stay on top of your fitness game.

Tips For Staying Fit While On Vacation

  1. Walk as much as possible. Are you guys tired of me telling you to walk to lose weight yet -lol? I feel like walking is always the first thing on my list for fitness tips but it’s because walking is so underestimated. Walking is by far the easiest thing you can do to stay in shape. Especially while on vacation. Whether it’s walking down the beach, walking to dinner or going for a long walk in the mornings, getting your steps in is key. It’s also a great way to really see the town or city you are staying in.
  2. Do a local (active) activity. Go hiking, running, swimming, paddle boarding or anything that will get your body moving. While I was in LA last year, we did the hike to the Hollywood Sign and it was not only a killer workout, but it was the highlight of my trip!
  3. No Gym Required Workouts. If you have a smart phone, then you can pretty much get a workout in anywhere. There are hundreds of “No Gym Required” workouts on Youtube that will still kick your booty and give you a nice sweat sesh.
  4. Find a local gym. If you’re the type of person that has to hit the gym, find a local gym and see if they allow day or week passes. If you’re in a town that gets a lot of tourists, then there’s a pretty good chance the gyms there will have this option!
  5. Split Your Meals. When you’re on vacation, you’re not meal prepping and cooking like you do when you’re home. There is definitely a lot more eating out and the easiest way to keep yourself from over eating is to split a meal with someone! With restaurant portions being so big, splitting a meal is a great way to keep yourself from consuming some major (unnecessary) calories.
  6. Drink Water. I mean, lots of water. When on vacation I try to drink at least one gallon a day. This keeps you hydrated and helps to flush out all of the toxins you’ve been putting in your body.
  7. Avoid snacking. It’s the little things that help the most. Trust me on this one. Since you are eating out and indulging in things you normally don’t, avoiding snaking is an easy way to keep yourself from over eating while on your trip.

What do you guys think of these tips? If you have any to add to this list, let me know! I would love to read them!

Lauren
