Happy Monday Love Bugs!

I hope you all had an amazing weekend.

I am officially home from Fashion Week and I can’t help but be in awe over my experience this past weekend.

Actually, as I write this, I am sitting on my early morning flight, still slightly intoxicated from the night before, and exhausted from the weekend…. but my creative juices are flowing so I wanted to get all of this down.

I’ll start off with that it was the quickest, most jam packed – non stop weekend of my life and I loved it.

As I told you all Friday, I have been saying all year long I wasn’t going to Fashion Week. It was too close to the wedding, I was worried I would be stressed, I didn’t want to take off work and etc, etc. Looking back, I feel like I made every excuse possible as to why I wasn’t going to go but finally 2 weeks before, I pulled the trigger and decided to go. I sent a blast out through the LiketoKnowIT network to find last minute roommates, booked my ticket and went to work planning out my weekend very fast.

If there is one thing I have to say about my trip is that the whole thing was a huge learning experience.

You know, it’s an interesting thing traveling alone and embarking on a new experience. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I knew a lot of girls at most of the shows & events. So many Houston girls were there too – so I wasn’t totally alone! But, because I booked late, I didn’t stay with them and everyones schedules were very different, so I really was on my own a lot and had to step up.

This was the second time in my life I have ever really had to step out of my comfort zone. Right after college when I first started working, I was sent to do a trade show out of the country in Aruba. I remember crying on my way to the airport because I was so afraid. So afraid of the fear of the unknown and afraid of having to put myself out there.

Let me tell you guys, that trip ended up being the most life changing & best trip of my entire life.

That’s kind of how I have been looking back on this trip. Actually I am not going to lie, this trip was way more intimidating but at the same time, I am so much stronger from it.

Looking back and growing up (pre blogging years) I would’ve never imagined I would be at Fashion Week. I mean, little ol’ me? Little Lauren? Fashion Week? Never! But there I was, in New York, at the shows, events and parties. It almost didn’t seem real.

I saw some amazing shows, the showrooms were flawless, my meetings were amazing and the parties were to die for but I think my favorite part about the trip, were all of the amazing women I met. As I mentioned early, even though it was scary not going with anyone, it was also a huge blessing in the sense that it made me get to know so many girls as opposed to hiding behind the one I was with. It made me be open and I loved finally meeting so many girls I had only met through online.

This industry is weird ya’ll – walking into the LiketoKnow.IT party Saturday, I could look around a recognize every girls face and know their entire life story, but in reality I didn’t actually know them – even though I felt like I did. I’m telling you – so weird, but it is so fun finally meeting face-to-face with girls you interact with so much.

As I sit on my flight, I can’t help but want to start planning next year. But I feel as though I am jumping the gun on that one just a little bit lol. For my first trip, this was perfect. I was in & out and got a taste of what Fashion Week was like but next year I definitely plan on staying longer.

I wore this little outfit for Saturday to the Banana Republic Presentation, lunch and to the Vogue Retreat. The booties kind of remind me of a go-go girl, but I am kind of obsessed with them. White booties are very in this fall season, just a heads up! Then this top is actually a onzie! I plan on wearing it with jeans and otk boots when the temperatures start to drop 🙂

I hope you all have an amazing week!

xo,

Lauren
