It’s officially the Holiday’s people!
Which, we all know means Holiday party after Holiday party after Holiday party.
Aka – wine, spiked cider, more wine, cocktails, and in my case, mostly champagne. &&& to be completely honest, I am okay with this. I love holiday parties more than anyone!
The thing I don’t like?
My face looking like the grim reaper the next morning. Especially if I sleep in my make up, #worstthingever! But, I am only human, and sometimes heading straight to bed sounds better than doing my skin care routine.
The thing is, drinking and I are not exactly friends. This is because I don’t get just kind of hunger over… I get like, desperately ill, and pretty much can’t function the next day. Staying hydrated before, during, and after drinking has helped me, but I am still a work in progress. So, while I haven’t mastered bouncing back completely from a hangover over, I have mastered not looking hunger over.
Hydrate
The first thing you should do when you wake up, is drink at least 16 oz of water. Not only will this help you to start feeling better, but it will help to hydrate your skin.
skin care
Wash your face completely, getting rid of all dirt// left over makeup from the night before. Next, compress a very cold or wet ice filled face towel over your face (do this especially to the eye area) This reduces the swelling. After I do this, I spray Caudali Beauty Elixir all over my face. I bought this elixir in Vegas, and I am just so obsessed. It’s literally like a burst of radiance, and energy all in one. It also reduces the appearance of pores. (I love it on air planes!)
Then, I apply the Clarins Shaping Facial Lift Contouring Serum using their specific application method. I talked about this serum in this post, and it’s a life savior every single time. This serum basically contours the natural roundness of your face by relieving additional heaviness and puffiness. Aka – game changer.
After this, I apply under eye cream to combat any additional puffiness, and face moisturizer. I have been using this eye cream & this moisturizer (review coming soon!).
Makeup
(FACE)
When it comes to applying make up after a night of drinking, the less you wear, the better. For my foundation, I stick to a tinted moisturizer. This Stila Tinted Moisturizer will forever be my favorite (I’ve been using is for 5 years, and it beats out some of my most expensive foundations.)
When it comes to a concealer, you want to pick one with a creamier consistency. I love this one. It’s called “A Little Amazing Concealer” for a reason.I also really like the Clé de Peau Beauté concealer. It’s a little a lot pricier, but it will last you a long time. Since my dark circles are more of a purple-ish tint, I use a more yellow toned concealer. But, if your dark circles are more greenish, try a more pink concealer.
Next, I lightly brush a little bit of bronzer all over my face (no contouring here) and and a little bit of blush to my cheek bones. Remember, when your face is looking hungover, less is more. You really don’t want to look cake-y.
(EYES)
First, I fill in my eyebrows. Next, I apply “eye shadow”, which isn’t eye shadow at all, but instead, an eye brightener. I apply this one from Smashbox to my eyelids and to the corners of my eyes. For eyeliner, I stick to a white-ish shade, and I apply it to the inside of my eyelids. Then I apply a heavier top coat of mascara on my top eye lashes, and a lighter top on my lower eyelashes.
(LIPS)
BRIGHT LIPS! This is probably the best and easiest tip of them all. By wearing a brighter lip, it will draw more attention to your lips instead of your tired eyes. Just make sure you moisturize your lips and get rid of any extra dead skin. If you don’t know, my favorite lipstick is the entire Rouge Per Couture YSL collection! The Le Rouge & Fuchsia Innocent one are my absolute favorite shades!
Oh! And my pink detox drink wouldn’t hurt either!
xo,
Lauren
