Hey guys! I am so excited for this post!

Last Thursday, I took the plunge and went to the glorious and oh so famous, Soul Cycle.

As you guys know, I love spin class, and have been to almost every studio in the city. So when Soul Cycle finally opened in Houston (the first in Texas!) I wasn’t going to not try it!  I mean, I had to see what all the fuss was about.

For anybody who doesn’t know, SoulCycle started in NYC and is the most famous cycling studio in the world. Probably due to their A-list clientele of celebrities and what not, but that’s not what keeps bringing people in. Instead, it’s their sense of community, high energy music, intense choreography, and booty kicking classes.

The studios interior is everything you would think it would be, all white, completely crisp and perfect. When going into the class, I’ll be honest, I immediately got super nervous -lol. &&& I spin a lot!  I was so nervous that when I got on my bike, I couldn’t remember how to clip in – lol (head bump)  But as soon as the music started, I immediately came to my senses and was ready to rock out.

I took Kamelle’s, 5:30 class and let me tell you…

THIS CLASS WAS HIGH ENERGY.

Like Holy-Moly high energy. It was incredible and very fast paced.  The music was seriously on point and it was just like something you would see out of a movie. The choreography was just so much fun, but it was also really hard. I’ll be honest, this class kicked my ass. There were lots of tap backs, dips, pushups,  isolating, sprinting and etc. In the class there was little to no stopping. In most classes I’ve taken, in-between each song or two there is a brief period where you can rest, and there wasn’t a lot of time for that in this class. It was all go, go, GO!

Like all of the Houston studios, you book your class and your bike ahead of time online. Their bikes are pretty basic, but still require spin shoes. During my original tour, they told me the reason for their basic bikes is because they didn’t want their riders to be in competition and watching their numbers on the bike. They really focus on everyone riding as a community and as a pack, which I really liked. This is also the reason their bikes are so close together. I think the only complaint I have is that I hated the spot where my water bottle was. Which clearly isn’t a big deal at all.

Also, Soul Cycle is priciest studio in Houston, but you’re getting what you pay for. If you decide you love it, then the price will be worth it to you.

All in all, I had a really great experience and I really encourage everyone to try it! I can’t wait to go back!  In general though, I encourage you all to try every studio. Each studio offers something the other doesn’t, so I truly believe you should try them all until you find your home!
