Hi Everyone, half way to the weekend! I’m extra excited about this weekend because Colton and I are taking a quick trip to Miami!! Neither of us have ever been, so if you have any suggestions, please let me know!!! We are clueless, ha!
With this vacation coming up, I wanted to share with you guys how I try my best to stay on track of my healthy lifestyle while enjoying vacation.
I’ll start by saying, I am that person.
I am the person who, while on vacation, gets up every morning to get a good sweat in. The person everyone groans at, saying “good for you” while they are just getting out of bed. Sometimes I feel like people think it’s annoying. Ask Colton, I am always super self conscious of it. Although, I don’t really see it as a “good for me” sort of thing. I mean yeah, it’s good for me, but its just what I do. I continue to eat my food, whether its me packing my own or ordering healthy options while out. My biggest tip is to not change your healthy habits just because you’re on vacation. And honestly, it’s worth it to me. I don’t like coming home and feeling like all of my hard work before the trip was for nothing.
My tips:
1) As stated above, get a good sweat in first thing in the morning.
By doing this first thing when you wake up, your body doesn’t even know what you’re doing yet. That way, you don’t get the option to talk yourself out of it. It gets your metabolism rocking, it makes you look toner, you’ll choose healthier options continuously throughout the day, and I swear it always will cure your hangover.
2) Drink as much water as possible
If you’re anything like me, you will be consuming a few cocktails. Water will keep you hydrated which is super important. Drinking completely dehydrates you so I always drink double the amount I usually would while on vacation.
3) Don’t get off track
Just because you’re on vacation doesn’t mean you should fully get off track of your healthy lifestyle. Of course, I’ll have a few more drinks than usual and split a fews deserts with Colton, but I’ll also order fish with vegetables w/ out the side of rice for dinner, or a salad with dressing on the side. Does that make sense? It’s all about balance.
4) Stay Active
Whether it’s taking a walk on the beach, doing water sports, beach volleyball, dancing at night, or walking to the cafe down the street instead of Uber. Make sure you’re moving extra while on vacation because you will be consuming a lot more calories than usual.
5) Enjoy yourself
I mean you are on vacation, right?! The whole point of living a healthy lifestyle is that it’s a lifestyle and not a diet. If you splurge on one meal, make the next one a little better for you. Just don’t beat yourself up about it, okay??
xo,
Lauren
