I know this is kind of early, but Thanksgiving is creeping up on us, and fast!!
Which is why I want you guys to start thinking about how you are going to stay healthy, and fit on this Thanksgiving day! Thanksgiving is supposed to be a day of true thanks, that for some reason, is also a holiday we have all decided that we needed to stuff our faces on.
Insert little girl raising her hand emoji right here, because I am guilty.
So even though we all indulge a little more than usual on this day, here is how I stay on track of my healthy lifestyle.
Amp up your workout a few weeks before.
I usually do this for every big occasion, but for Thanksgiving, it’s a must! Whether it’s a few weeks before, or the week of, try to do your best! Work out everyday, and stick to your clean eating. This way, your one day of indulgence won’t set you back.
Do not skip Breakfast on Thanksgiving.
I understand why many would think to it’s smart to skip breakfast on this day, but it’s not! By skipping breakfast, not only are you slowing down your metabolism, but it’s going to cause you to eat more throughout the day.
Sign up for the Turkey Trot.
For the past few years, my family has made it a tradition to run in the Turkey Trot Thanksgiving morning. This is by far, my favorite tradition because it gives you a sense of achievement by starting out your day like this! It’s always cool outside, there are thousands of people there, food, music, it’s just good vibes all around! I love it! & it’s all for a cause! Last year we ran in LA, and this year we will be in Austin!
You can either choose the 1k ,5k, or 10k! Walk it, run it, your choice! Just get out there and move!

Take it easy on the appetizers.
This is always where I slack, because I loveeeeeee cheese and crackers. Like, they could be my whole meal! But in all realness, appetizers are really tricky because you’re not thinking about how much you are actually eating. You’re just kind of mindlessly grabbing. One thing you can do is make a plate of your appetizers, instead of mindlessly grazing.
Fill up on lean meat and vegetables.
When it comes to my plate, I like to try a little bit of everything, but the main thing I put on my plate is White Turkey Meat (White meat is about 50 calories less that dark meat and has about 5 grams less of fat), and the whatever vegetable is served. I like green beans!
Note, this doesn’t mean a green been casserole or candied sweet potatoes. If your family doesn’t serve a healthy vegetable side, bring your own, that’s what i am doing!
Enjoy Desert, but be mindful!
It’s the holidays, enjoy yourself!!!! Buttttt, that doesn’t mean eat an entire pecan pie-ha! If pie is your thing, choose Pumpkin Pie over Pecan Pie, it will save you around 300 calories, loads of fat & sugar.
Stay active throughout the day.
Even though your first thought after indulging on your Thanksgiving meal will be to sit on the couch and watch football, try to do a little something active! Whether it’s a light walk around the block, or a flag football game, just move a little! It will help your body digest your food as well!
