You Guys. I’m on cloud nine sharing these photos with you all! They are above and beyond greater than I could have ever imagined and I am in just complete and total awe over them.
When we started thinking about our engagement photos, I really didn’t want them to be cheesy. Like that was my biggest concern. I didn’t want Colton and I awkwardly holding signs and I didn’t want our photos to look super posed. I wanted to make sure our relationship was captured. I wanted the photos to show our love for one another because there is a lot of love in our relationship.
In the fall, I saw a few photos from one of our sweet friends weddings in Colorado and about had a heart attack over how beautiful her photos were. I immediately (& obnoxiously) texted her something along the lines of “YOUR WEDDING PHOTOS ARE BEAUTIFUL! WHO WAS YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER???????”.
& that’s when I was pointed to our amazing photographer, Jenna Routh.
I look at these photos and I love knowing that when Colton and I are older, we will have these to look at. These photos that are 100% purely us. Before marriage and during such an exciting time in our lives. I hope that in hard times we are able to look at these and remember exactly how we felt in this moment. I hope that our children look at these photos and cherish them as well.
In the midst of wedding planning, it’s easy to get caught up in all of the small stuff, but these photos and our love remind me of exactly why we are getting married.
If you remember a few months ago, Colton and I went to Waco for a weekend and this is the reason we went! Even though you cannot really tell we are in Waco in the photos, it really meant a lot to us just being there. We met at Baylor – in Waco and that’s where we fell in love and started our relationship. So going back, spending the weekend in our favorite town and doing this photoshoot really was just incredible.
A few months after getting engaged, I had a friend ask me about engagement photos. When we were going to do them, what I was thinking for them and etc., etc. During our conversation, she jokingly asked, “Please tell me you guys are not going to do those cheesy photos of you and Colton running through a field or something!!”
Of course I replied back something along the lines of “Oh gosh no, NEVER!!!”.
Well – Whoops? lol.
Because here we are…. kind of in a field, in the middle of no where, in Waco, also behind an abandoned building, taking our Engagement photos. Ha!
If you can’t tell, Jenna is kind of amazing and made what could have been a semi awkward photoshoot SO comfortable. Like, it’s not everyday that you sit there and kiss your significant other while someone else is right there taking photos of you lol. She honestly has a gift.
I’m sure our parents would’ve rather us have done a more traditional engagement shoot, but I couldn’t be happier with our decision and how these turned out!
Thank you guys so much for letting me share these with you all. For caring and for following us on this journey. We’re so excited for October!
If you have any more questions on these photos or about Jenna, just shoot me an email!
xo,
Lauren
