The Skinny Confidential Podcast
I know I have mentioned this before, but if you are new here, I’ll fill you in on the fact that I’m like obnoxiously obsessed with Lauryn Evartz of The Skinny Confidential. Long story short, she is one of the reasons I started my blog and I am pretty sure she is my spirit animal (but with bigger boobs lol). Any who, she and her husband (Michael) have a podcast called the Him & Her Podcast that I am equally as obsessed with. I’m actually on a huge Podcast kick right now, but that’s for a different & upcoming post! Last week on their podcast, they had on and interviewed Kelly LeVeque who is a holistic nutritionist, for stars like Jessica Alba and Chelsea Handler.
Trust me on this one, this episode is GOLD. From sharing a crazy amount of weight-loss/health tips, to life and business advice. Pure gold. I listened to it once during the day on Tuesday and then went home and immediately listened to it again to take notes on it.
Colton came home from the gym and I was sitting at the dining room table eating dinner, head phones in, writing away in my notebook taking notes. He was like, “Babe…..what cha doing over there? lol”. Well, I was writing down pure gold, that’s what!
Anyways, listen to it and then thank me later 😉 It’s episode 70!
My Stand Up Desk
If you follow my Instagram or Snapchat Stories (lauren_Smith6), then you saw a few weeks ago that I got a standup desk for my office. I am going to do a full review soon, but I wanted to go ahead and fill you on how I am liking it so far!
For those of you who do not know, in addition to the blog, I work a 9-5 day job as a marketing coordinator. After graduating and being the active person that I am, getting used to sitting all day became very difficult for me. So when I had the opportunity to try a standup desk, I jumped at it! I’ve had it for a little over a month and to say I am loving it would be the biggest understatement. I feel more motived, I don’t feel as frumpy and I honestly feel more alert and ready to work. I also love knowing that I am burning double the amount of calories. I’ll share a picture of it today on Snapchat! If you’re interested, use the code BLOGGER30 to receive 30% OFF your own stand up desk. You can find the desk here.
Trend I’m Coveting: Front Ties
One of my favorite trends this summer, are any and all outfits that have a front tie on them. Whether it’s a romper, dress, jumper or top, I want them all. I bought this front tie romper before Destin but wasn’t able to wear it because of the rain, so I plan on taking it with me for my Bachelorette Party in August!! This romper is so comfortable and the front tie + the cutout makes it just a little bit sassy. While I was in Destin, I planned are wearing it with this hat and these sandals but opted for heels and a more structured look for this post because this is most likely how I will style while here in Houstonand not at the beach. I ordered mine from the actual Show Me Your Mumu site but also found it here incase you want it for this weekend! They have free two day shipping 😉
Home Decor
Slowly but surely our new place is finally starting to come together!! I’ve been showing it a lot on Snapchat & Instastories but I cannot wait to actually show you all of it! So far, I have ordered a fun picture, this clothing rack, this blue rug and these blue pillows!
Summer Book: The After Party by Anton DiSclafani
I was actually sent this book , last summer but did not pick it up until a few weeks ago. I was having a hard time sleeping one night and decided to read to pass the time. I ended up staying awake way longer than anticipated because I couldn’t put the book down. Since then I have been living and breathing this book. I love it because it is set in Houston in the 1950’s and is about two best friends who are socialites of the town. The obsession one has with the other and they way growing up sometimes leads to growing apart had me hooked from the start. Think Gossip Girl set in the 1950’s. It is SO good and I love hearing bits and pieces about what Houston was like during that time. I’m telling you, pick up this book, grab yourself a glass of Pinot Grigio and be ready to find your new favorite book.
We’re half way to the Fourth of July weekend! Yay!
xo,
Lauren

OMG I’m literally obsessed with the Bitch Bible (Jackie Schimmel)
She’s friends with Lauren from Skinny Confidential + has had her on her podcast. I think you would love it. I feel like Jackie is my spirit animal too! haha
