Welcome to our bedroom!
I’m not going to lie, I feel kind of weird sharing my bedroom because I feel as though it is very intimate and personal, but then on the other hand, I show you all it all of the time on Snapchat (Lauren_smith6) and Insta Stories anyways, so I figured I might as well give you all the deets on it!
Plus, I’m kind of in love with it.
When I started designing our bedroom, I ultimately wanted to go for linen closet / minimalist kind of feel. I wanted it to be bright & peaceful. The rest of our apartment is very busy, our last master bedroom was very busy and our lives are very busy, so I wanted to make our bedroom as tranquil and peacefull as possible. I didn’t want it to feel cluttered at all and instead feel open and airy which I think I have accomplished!
Furniture
This furniture I have had for years. When I was going into my second year of college, my Dad bought me a ton of furniture and said “make sure this is what you want, because I am not buying you anymore after this“- which I am so thankful for! Needless to say though, I wasn’t thinking about Colton when I decided on my white four postered bed set at the age of 18 (lol). Colton wasn’t even a thought and I loved the furniture. While it is a little too girl for my current taste, it’s free and nothing beats free.
Can I get an amen to that?

Bedding
In college, I had this quilt from Anthropologie that I kept up until our most recent move when I decided to go for this white duvet set instead. I love how white and fluffy the bedding looks in hotel rooms and that’s exactly how I wanted this to feel. This duvet set is serisouly perfect and I could not be happier with it. Our duvet insert is an alternative duvet insert. Reason being, I have read way too many artciles on how horrible geese are treated when being plucked for down covers. It is absolutely horrible so I refuse to partake…..
Anyways! Then our sheets are seriously the softest (& most cost efficient) sheets in the world and the throw pillows I honestly picked up from Marshalls but I tagged a few similar below.
As you guys have noticed and as much as some of you may frown upon this, we let Mister Bentley on the bed. Since our bedding is white and we do not want him to ruin it, the blanket on the end of the bed is his and whenever we let him up, we make sure he is on his blanket and not directly on our duvet comforter!
Room Decor
This rest of our room decor has honestly been picked up from stores along the way. Since this is kind of (hoping at least) an inbetween space, I wasnt looking to buy a ridiculous amount of new items when we already had so many. Our throw pillows, blanket and picture frames are all from HomeGoods. My Marilyn picture was one of the first things I ever bought for my new apartment 3 years ago from a random show (here is a similar one!), the manaquin I picked up at small store in Waco and my mirror above my bed I have owned for years but Wayfair has an identical one.
To keep my bathroom from being too cluttered, I picked up this gold tray from Wayfair to organize my perfume bottles and I love the way it turned out. Then to personalize each of our bed side tables, I put pictures of us with our families. You’ll notice next to mine, I like to keep a stack of all of my favorite books and a lavender diffuser.
Curtains
I will be honest, the curtains have been a huge battle in our bedroom. Where our bedroom faces and where the sun rises are not friends.
Aka – the sun faces straight into our bedroom window at 6:30 am. When we were putting together this space, I bought these curtains to match the “white linen look” I was going for and they were just not enough. So since then, we have added these white blackout curtains behind them to help keep the sun out but also match the bedroom. It isn’t perfect and if you were to ask Colton, he would have preferred us to have gotten black, black out curtains, but he is also like a vampire when he sleeps….. so his opinion isn’t trust worthy (lol) but I swear these white black out curtains placed behind our normal ones have done wonders!

No lie, I didn’t think of white black out curtains. I’ll need to try this for our bedroom! I went for white too, for a clean and chic vibe but I hate waking up to the sun on my sleep in days! lol.
P.S, My fiancé hates having our little furry one on our white bed too. I’ll now have to purchase a blanket and see if he will allow that! hehe.
This is a nice post. Thanks for sharing this post.
