Hello, Hello Guys!

I’m very excited about today’s post! A few months leading up to our wedding date, I started getting a series of facials to prep my skin before the big day. I really wanted to have that desired Bridal Glow and in order to achieve that, I was going to have to step up my normal skin care regimen.

After talking to friends, who were recent brides themselves, almost all of them told me they started doing a series of facials a few weeks before their weddings and what a difference it made!

I was sold and knew I immediately needed to call Cindy Talmadge.

Cindy is a skin care, anti-aging specialist here in the Houston area. She is a registered Esthetician, with over 10 years of skincare and plastic surgery experience. She works directly with Dr. Steely, who is a very well known and respected Houston surgeon and there is no-one else I would trust more with my face.

How did I hear about Cindy? Well, she just so happens to be my best friends, Mom!

When we were in high school, she would always bring home different skincare products to try out, which was super cool but I don’t think we appreciated it as much as we should have. Don’t get me wrong, we loved it (!) I just don’t think we were as into skincare at 16 or as worried about aging as we are now lol. Today I’m like, whatever Cindy tells me to do or use, I LISTEN bc I can only dream to look like her one day.

Long story short, when I decided I wanted to get a series of bridal facials beige the wedding. there was no doubt who I was going to call.

So without further ado, here is Cindy Talmadge!

Hi, hi! Give a quick little intro to the LtoL readers for me! This is your time to shine 🙂

Hello everyone! I am Cindy Talmadge the medical esthetician at Steely Plastic Surgery. I have a passion for helping others to understand skincare. As an esthetician with experience and knowledge – I listen to my clients and their goals to achieve the best results.

How long have you been in this industry?

I have over ten years experience in the plastic surgery and skincare industry. I am also trained and certified in Laser Hair Removal, IPL – photo facials, microdermabrasion, corrective and rejuvenating facials and chemical peels.

How can girls (especially Brides) benefit from getting a series of facials before their big day?

It’s your Special Day and all eyes are going to be on you! One of the benefits of superficial exfoliation is that it prepares the skin for better penetration of the topical products you are using. It also clears away clogged pores and brightens skin complexion for that wedding day glow.

If a Bride were to start getting a series of facials, how far out would you recommend starting?

When it comes to wedding day skincare there is no such thing as starting too soon. With Lauren and her busy schedule, we started four months before her big day.

Can you tell the LtoL readers the different types of facials I had and explain a few of the different techniques you used during my facials?

We started with a couple of deep cleansing facials with extractions, dermaplaning and a little acid (glycolic). A Triple Enzyme Rejuvenator with a very light acid to give that nice glow, as well as a Peptide Polish facial with Ice Globes.

These are a few of the treatments for Lauren’s bridal skincare. Remember every bride deserves to be flawlessly beautiful on her wedding day!

What exactly is dermabrasion? I know for sure I had this one done more than once.

There is dermabrasion and dermaplaning both are a form of manual exfoliation. I use dermaplaning a lot with my facials. Dermaplaning requires the use of a surgical scalpel to gently remove the barrier layer of dead skin cells along with any peach fuzz from the face. This treatment can be performed every six weeks or so and there is no downtime. Dermaplaning triggers cell regeneration process and allows products to better penetrate the skin.

It leaves skin very smooth which is perfect for a special occasion and photos!

Explain the “ice globes” from the photos above! You know that’s my favorite part!

Ice globes – cooling down in the treatment room.

Cooling treatments not only revive tired skin but can also transport clients to another place…even if it’s for an hour or two.

If a girl wants to achieve that desired “glow”, but can’t make it to see an esthetician, do you have any advice on what they could do at home?

If you can ‘t make it to an esthetician for a facial ~ you will want to exfoliate twice a week and moisturize your skin morning and night.

If you could pick one piece of advice for girls worried about aging skin, what would it be?

Ladies, please wear sunscreen or sunblock daily.

What type of skincare line would you recommend to the LtoL readers?

At Steely Plastic Surgery we offer Rhonda Allison and Obagi Products. Find a skincare line that works with your skin.

Since healthy living and fitness is also a huge part of LtoL, what is your favorite way to sweat and stay healthy?

I enjoy walking/running the park and also I do breath work (a deep breathing meditation).
