Six Steps For Brighter Looking Skin

olay whips

Spring is near and if you are anything like me, then it couldn’t be here any sooner!

Between my workouts, my eating habits, spring trends and beauty products, I have been gearing up for the season.

Although one thing that never changes from season to season is my love for bright and glowing looking skin.

Everything in your life affects your skin. From what you drink, to what you eat, to what you put on your face and the makeup you use.

Here Are My Tips For Glowing Skin

Drink More Water.

Your skin is your largest organ and in order to keep it hydrated, you should already be drinking almost half of your body weight in water every day. Dehydration directly affects your skin.

Up Your Antioxidant Game

Antioxidants are key for glowing skin because they repair damaged skin cells, and purge toxins from your body keeping your skin clear and radiant. They protect your skin, prevent premature aging and fight against blemishes. My favorite way to add antioxidants into my diet are through lemons, berries.

We’ve already talked about drinking more water but try adding in lemon water into the mix to really make your skin glow! Lemon water is a natural antioxidant and is rich in vitamin C. I like to drink lemon water first thing in the morning! Then berries, like blueberries and blackberries are not only high in antioxidants, but fiber as well! A healthy body means healthy skin. Try adding a handful into your daily smoothie!

Other high antioxidant food includes spinach, tomatoes, avocados, and pomegranates!

More Fat Please!

Foods high in Omega-3 fatty acids keep your skin looking plump and moisturized from the inside out. They reduce inflammation and promote clearer smoother looking skin. Foods like wild caught salmon are a great source of Omega-3 while also containing minerals like selenium which protects your skin from sun exposure. Spinach is another great source, along with walnuts!

Exfoliate, Moisturize, Repeat.

Exfoliate your skin at least three times a week and use a moisturizer every day and night.

Exfoliating your skin is important because your body tends to take forever to shed dead skin cells and generate new ones naturally. This can leave your skin looking dull, rough, and dry.

Then moisturizing is super important because it keeps your skin hydrated, reduces the appearance of blemishes, helps your skin stay young and helps to fight wrinkles!

I just started using the Olay Luminous Whip Moisturizer (especially before applying makeup) and I cannot say enough good things about it! This moisturizer has a brightening formula that evens skin tones and minimizes pores. Plus, it leaves my skin feeling so soft! I wish you all could feel it through the computer because it’s incredible.

You can purchase it at your local HEB!

Tinted Moisturizer – Your New BFF

Instead of using foundations that clog your pores, try something that not only gives you great coverage but also moisturizes and protects your skin from the sun as well! Otherwise known at Tinted Moisturizer, these types of foundations are known to give you that dewy – creamy glow! This one is my favorite right now.

Highlight

If highlighting isn’t apart of your current makeup routine, then you will want to add it asap!

The key to getting that perfect, all natural looking glow is to apply highlighter in the right spots. This includes a little bit in the space between your eyebrows, down the bridge of your nose, the tops of your cheekbones, and your cupid’s bow. I also like to add a little bit to the innermost part of my eyes! This is hands down the best highlighter I have ever used!
