&&& we’re back with more content from the Reward Style Conference, but I promise you all, this is the last one!

As I mentioned in yesterday’s post, on Friday, all of the girls gathered in the Conference hall to listen to a few special speakers. First, we had Amber, the co-founder of Reward Style talk. Then they did a Q&A with the brand reps from major retailers like Express, Banana Republic and more. There was a Q&A with Aimee Song from Song of Style and then Kendra Scott basically had a mic drop performance speech. Seriously, she was so incredible.

There was a lot of valuable information given to us and most of it was really encouraging, so I thought I would share my

10 Biggest Take-Aways from the Conference.

Since not everyone reading this is a blogger (Hi, Mom), I broke this down into two categories. One featuring tips for blogs and the other one for everyone else out there wanting to create something of there own or looking for all around life tips.

Biggest Take Away For Bloggers

Swipe Up Links Do Not Have Cookies

So while using your RS Links for the Swipe Up feature is so amazing and convenient, your cookies are not being tracked. So if you use the feature and have your readers swipe up on a product, unless they buy the product right then and there, you will not get commission off of it. RS recommends using the Swipe Up feature to send your readers to the app to shop or directly to the link through your blog where they can click from there.

The Biggest “Don’t” From Brands When Working on a Collaboration

  • Timeliness and Flexibility: Be up front and open with the brand on your timing. Don’t post late and be understanding when things change. Communication is key.
  • Don’t Combine Sponsored Content: Meaning, if you’re working on a campaign with Express, don’t combine it with a sponsored campaign from Nordstrom. I thought this was a no-brainer but people have done this.
  • Not having Sponsored Posts dedicated / unique to the brand: Meaning, get creative! Make the post about the brand but be creative with it!

Push Out More Video Content

People love videos because they like hearing you speak and feeling like they are actually there with you. Video content is supposed to be huge this year – especially on Instagram.

Best App for Photo Editing: Snapseed

I was not using this app before the conference, but I quickly downloaded and have been learning how to use it since! So far, I am loving all of the features but it definitely took me a little while (like a four-hour drive from Dallas to Houston) to start to get the hang of it.

Be Real. People Can’t Relate To Perfection

I absolutely loved this one! There has been a trend of people steering away from perfectly curated photos and looking more for real-life ones. Everyday life isn’t perfection, show that to your readers.

Biggest Take Aways For Every Day Hustle

“Hire people to help you. In fact, hire people smarter than you.” – Aimee Song

If you’re anything like me, it’s hard to ask people for help but the truth is, you can’t do everything. I loved the part of hiring someone smarter than you because I think so many people hire with the thought of wanting to train but if you hire someone smarter than you, you won’t have to waste time training and you will be able to trust them with their duties, as opposed to wasting time with someone else.

“The word, “No” is merely a suggestion.” – Kendra Scott

Love, love, love this one! Use that “no” as an opportunity to turn it into a yes. Use your “no” to get you to that next place you’re going. Think of it as a challenge as opposed to giving up.

“If you’re doing what everyone else is doing, you’ve already failed” – Kendra Scott

Be creative and different. Think outside the box and don’t follow the crowd.

“When you start to be discouraged, remember why you started. ” – Aimee Song

This is the best one for any life scenario. Whether you are in a career change, starting your own business or something personal like just trying to lose weight. Remember why you started.

“Let Your Core Values Be Your North Star”

To end this, I thought this one was really appropriate and lovely. Let your core values be your north star. Stay true to your values, your ethics and what you believe in. Use these to guide you in whatever you take on in life.

What do you guys think of these takeaways?

Lauren
