Hello, hello guys! I am excited to share a few tidbits from our vacation to the beach last week with you all today!
I kid you not, we look forward to this trip literally all year round.
I do want to preface this though, by saying that this is not a guide to Destin. Reason being, we don’t exactly do a whole lot lol…. but I think that’s why I like it so much.
This trip to Destin is one that Colton has been making with his best friend Kevin and his family since they were like eight. Somewhere along the way, Colton’s whole family started going and flash forward 15+ years later, all of Kev’s sibling are married with the sweetest little babies, Kevin and Colton are both married (Hi that’s me) and it’s a huge mixture of about twenty people. They rent houses in the same community every year in the Miramar/Destin area and we spend a week on the beach.
I believe this was my sixth time on this trip!
This year was super fun because not only was the weather was amazing (last year we had the worst luck with weather), but the boys other best friend, Alex (Rosie) and his wife Heather (who I adore) came with us! We really missed Colton’s sister though. While we had a great time, it still didn’t feel the same with out her there.

To give you guys an idea of what a typical day is like for us…
The guys usually get up early and golf most mornings, so it’s just the girls the first half of the day! Most mornings are started with a cup of coffee on the porch and then I would either go work out at a local gym or Heather and I would take a long walk on the beach! Once the guys got back from golf, we would normally make sandwiches at the house, change into our swimsuits, pack the cooler, put on sunscreen and head to the beach around noon!
{ I have to tell you guys, this swimsuit beat out all my expectations by far. I knew it was cute when I saw it online, but I didn’t realize just how comfortable and flattering it was really going to be! Absolutely obsessed! }

Once we would get to the beach, every one just pretty much relaxes and drinks by the ocean all day. One thing that is really nice though, is that through the home rental company (or whatever it’s called), you can also rent umbrellas and chairs. So by the time we get to the beach, all of our chairs and umbrellas are already set up. Also it’s a private beach, so we never have to worry about over crowding or random people being there. I’m always really thankful Colton’s mom sets this up for all of us!
Then at the end of the day (around 5:30) we would head up to the house and hang out in the pool before showering. Colton’s mom would make the most delicious peach daiquiris, we would grill, have dinner and then stay up late playing cards ( golf if we’re being specific) around the table before going to sleep.

One of the few lunches we did! One day while the boys were golfing, Colton’s mom, Heather and I went to lunch at The Primrose! It was so cute and the hotel it was in was absolutely exquisite!
I can’t even imagine how many weddings they must have there because it was gorgeous.

{ No words can explain how obsessed I am with this hot pink bikini! }

This particular night was Colton’s Dad’s Birthday! A few years ago, we took him to Baytowne Warf to go to the Dueling Piano Bars and he had the best time – so he wanted to go there this year for his birthday as well!
If you are ever in Destin, Sand Destin or the 30A area, make your way to Baytowne Warf for at least one night. They have great bars and it’s always such a good time! We started going in college when we would come to Destin for spring break and continue to go back at least once every time we visit!

Towards the end of the week we were able to make our way to Aly’s Beach and Seaside! Since we were staying in the Miramar/Destin area, it was only about 30 minutes away!
We had lunch at George’s (amazing), adventured, shopped, had a few drinks and enjoyed the beach!

One of my favorite Destin traditions is that at the end of the day, when the sun starts to go down, everyone in our group grabs their chair and puts it right at the surf so that we’re all basically sitting in the water. It’s literally so relaxing and peaceful after a long day.
This is definitely Colton’s Dads favorite! I swear he would stay there all evening if he could!
{ P.S. – Yeah I got a Seaside Hat because I’m touristy like that. }

Another favorite tradition!
Morning sunrise walks on the beach! At least one morning while we are there, everyone wakes up around 5 am to walk to the beach and watch the sunrise.
This year it was a little cloudy…. so we couldn’t actually see the sunrise… but it was still fun none-the-less! The ocean breeze is always nice and cool, there are always people fishing and we usually see a lot of action in the ocean.
Then we head back, take a quick shower and head to Harbor Docks for breakfast!
{ Quick note, if you want a cute little pullover for the beach or lake this summer – then I can’t recommend this little eyelet pullover enough! }

Our last day is the day I got burnt to a crisp……
The whole trip I was so good about putting on sunscreen and then on the last day, Colton and I were shooting that morning and packing up since we had a late flight out that night. Colton went down to the beach earlier than I did, and I don’t know if I was anxious to get there or what but I completely forgot to put sunscreen on my back and ya’ll – I am still paying for it!
As we walked through the airport, all of the airline workers kept saying things to me like “I hope you have some aloe!”. We (I) didn’t realize how bad it was until we got home and actually saw it for myself – lol!
I’ll have to do a whole post on how I have kept it from peeling!
