Five Things I Do Every Morning

The past few months, I have been trying to put together a “Morning Routine” post for you guys but the truth is, as of right now, I don’t really have one. To be completely honest, I just figured out my schedule since taking the blog full time and literally, every day is different.

I have written out example schedules, tried my best to meditate every morning, told myself I would get up at 5:30 am to workout like I used too and none of those have happened.

So despite not having my dream morning schedule figured out, I have noticed that there are five steady things I do every single morning, no matter what. Five simple things I do to help start my day, wake me up and set me up for success.

Five Things I Do Every Morning

Chug Water 

Every night before I go to bed, I put a big glass of water on my bedside table and chug it first thing in the morning! Like.. I literally wake up, turn over and chug – lol. Eventually, throughout the morning, I will make my Skinny Pink Detox Drink or have a big glass of Lemon Water but no matter what, I always start my day by hydrating with my bedside water.

Open the Blinds 

After chugging my water, I step out of bed and immediately open the blinds in our bedroom so that I can let the natural light in. There is something about the natural light that immediately tells your brain it’s time to wake up. I picked this tip up from Lewis Howes podcast, The School of Greatness. He does this every morning and I guess a ton of studies have been done on this to show it works! While I’m not sure about those tests… I can say that this step works for me.

Brush My Hair & Splash Water on My Face 

Next, I go into the bathroom to brush my hair and splash water on my face. There is something about brushing my hair first thing in the morning and having the bristles scratch my head that feels so good and helps to wake me up. It gets the blood circulating around my brain and oddly makes me feel instantly more alert. Then I splash water on my face because it just feels super refreshing. I don’t like to wash my face with a cleanser in the morning, because the oils on your face from the night before are super good for your skin and but splashing just water on my face is a must!

Make the Bed 

Making my bed is an absolute must every morning because it simply sets the tone for my day! It’s a simple step that has been proven to lead to more productivity throughout the day, lower stress and improve your mood.

Move 

Then lastly, no matter what, I make sure to move. This is another thing I picked up from Lewis Howe! Whether I am being super productive and going to an early morning workout class, simply taking Bentley for a quick walk around the block or taking five minutes to stretch in my room, I make sure I move and get my body going first thing every morning.

Maybe one day I will have some killer morning routine that I owe all of my success too…. but at this time…. these five things are getting me through the morning and are doing just fine!:)
