Five (Current) Favorite Brunch Spots In Houston

It’s finally the weekend babes!!!

What all do you have planned this weekend? As you saw on my IG Stories last night, I’m like 99.9% sure I have come down with something and have not felt the greatest…so I see lots of rest and sleep in my future this weekend (!!) but if your weekend is looking a little different from mine (aka – more funfilled -lol!) then I thought I would share my favorite brunch places with you!

Please remember, these are my personal picks!

There are honestly so many amazing spots in Houston, but these are the ones I always find myself gravitating too when I want to brunch. I base my favorite brunch spots off a couple of factors. (1) They have to be cute (2) I like restaurants with lots of natural sunlight (2) Great Ambiance & People (3) Wide Menu Variety – This one is super important because I like healthier options while Colton is going to want a burger or the pancakes (4) Easy to get into -I have zero patience for places that don’t take reservations and there is nothing worse than waiting 45 minutes to be seated at your table. (5)  It must have a patio! Okay… it doesn’t have to have a patio…. but it gets major brownie points if it does.

Oh and quick note! The restaurants below are listed alphabetically and are not listed by rank!

Best Houston Brunch Spots

A’bouzy

(River Oaks)

If you and your crowd are ready to get wild and enjoy establishments more on the bougie side, then there is no better place than A’bouzy!! Not only is it Instagram perfect, but you are down to have the best time! Expect a lot of bubbly! They have a great menu selection (get the oysters!), an amazing patio and is great for large groups. I’ll be honest, the service isn’t amazing…. but the atmosphere makes up for it.

What I order: Lots of starter to share and a bottle Veuve for the table!

Backstreet Cafe

(River Oaks)

Nestled in an old, large River Oaks house off of Shepherd, Backstreet Cafe is a Houston classic and for good reason. If you are looking for a more low-key, yet classy brunch scene to get your buzz on – then Backstreet is your place. Once you’re seated, you’ll immediately be greeted with their famous house pastries. They have a great wine and cocktail selection, along with a great variety of food options. Depending on the day and the time of year, I love sitting on the patio but every seat in the house is just as amazing! Perfect for an all-girls brunch!

What I order: The Grilled Chicken Salad with a glass of Pinot Griggio.

Fig & Olive

(Galleria)

To say we are obsessed with Fig & Olive would be the understatement of the century. Fig & Olive is known nationwide but is new to Houston. The restaurant is super inviting with lots of sunlight, is super chic and has the cutest little patio. The menu is incredible (I mean soo good) and on Sunday’s they have a live jazz band. It’s very classy and very cute while still being very inviting and not snobbish in the least bit.

What I order: Start with the Chefs Crostini for the table to share. Then for your meal, I love both the Chicken Pallaird Salad or the Avocado Test! Oh and don’t forget a glass of Rosé!

Hungry’s

(Rice Village)

Another new and recent favorite! Hungry’s will honestly offer something for everyone in your group! They have a huge two-story patio area and the whole restaurant is super cute and trendy, while also still being very chill and relaxed. The carafe mimosas are amazing, as well as are their bloody marys and micheladas. The menu is the most extensive (& traditional) out of this list, it’s great for big groups and they have lots of TV’s all around…you know… just in case someone in your group is worried about missing a game.

What I order: Carafe of Mimosas for the table. The hummus to share is amazing and then their Smoked Salmon Avocado Toast is honestly the best thing I have ever had.

North Italia

(Galleria)

North will forever be our #1 favorite. I could honestly eat at North Italia every day and for every meal, but especially on Sundays for their brunch! Half price bottles of wine…need I say more? The patio is my favorite but be sure to make a reservation because they definitely start to fill up fast!

What I order: The Kale Salad with Grilled Chicken (oh my god so good) and a bottle of prosecco for the table.

I’m more laid back and go for the mimosas and avocado toast.
I love Barnaby’s Café as it’s dog friendly and my other top 2 choices is Café Poetes because so so SO cute! and recently just discovered Las Alamedas in Cinco Ranch because HELLO, $3 Champagne margaritas AND banana liquor cinnamon French toast?! YUM.

Oh my gosh, you have to try North! It’s SO SO SO GOOD!

Barnaby’s is an absolute favorite too – but we rarely go there for brunch since it ends at 11:00! We’ll normally go on a pretty day after Saturday morning spin and sit outside with a Mister Bentley! It’s one of our favorite things to do 🙂

Hearsay is soo good. They won an award for one of the best Bloody Mary’s in Houston and their bottomless mimosas during brunch are 👌🏼
