How To Put Together a Fall Harvest Cheese Board

I hope you all had a great week!:) This weekend, we’ll be loading up my car and heading to our friends ranch for the weekend and I am actually really excited for a relaxing weekend of sitting around a fire, roaster marshmallows and listening to country music!

A few weekends ago,  I invited friends and family over for a relaxing evening of carving pumpkins, drinking wine and hanging out. While we never actually got to carving our pumpkins once the wine starting flowing, we did enjoy the most amazing cheese board, put together by yours truly. I love making cheese boards because they bring everybody together and gets everyone talking. It’s fun having everyone try different cheeses and choose their favorite!

Plus, they are super filling! Especially if you add meat to it and make it more like a charcuterie like we did!

HOW TO BUILD A FALL HARVEST CHEESE BOARD

Start with the Cheese.

You’ll want to start with the cheese and build around that. Pick  2-5 types depending on the size of your group. My go-to picks are a creamy brie, manchega, a yellow cheddar, and a drunken goat. The four of those give a nice variety of hard and soft cheeses. If I add a fifth, it will be a white cheddar!  When it comes to cheeses like the cheddar, go ahead and cut it up into cubes for your guests for easy access!

Next comes the Meat

Once your cheeses are out on the board, start placing your meats around them. We choose normally choose 1-3 types including pepperoni, salami, and prosciutto.

Then the Crackers

Everyone is different when it comes to their cracker preferences, so I like to choose one thin type of cracker and one that’s thicker. Whole Foods has this great assorted variety pack of crackers fin 365 that we get every time! You can also get them off amazon here!

Fill in the Blanks

Last but not least, fill in the blanks! This includes fruits, nuts, popcorn and etc! For the fall season, I added purple grapes and dates to make the board a little more sweeter and to even out the savory. I also added my favorite roasted pecans for another perfect sweet and spicy mix! You can find my recipe here!

You can even add little spots of jelly or honey on the board for your guests as well!


At the end of the day, when building your cheese board, have fun with it and don’t get super caught up in the placements of everything! Just start with the cheeses and build around that! The messier the better, but don’t forget the wine!!
