Welcome Back Cuties!
I’m so excited to have the opportunity to partner with Taylor Farms to bring you this post today! Whether you’re starting to hit that Post New Years Resolution Slump or you’re just looking for ways up your nutrition and stay healthy this year, then this post is for you! For anyone not aware Taylor Farms, they are a Fresh Produce Company with products ranging from Organic Salads and Vegetables, to Salad Kits, On-the-Go Salads, Veggie Trays and more! I love them because they have something for everyone – making it possible for all of us to get our daily dose of veggies in!
Whenever I am asked what specific diet I follow, my answer is always the same in that there is not one. I just purely believe in healthy living, eating a well-balanced, whole food diet and that sustainability is key!
I’m not into drastic diets, fads or limitation and instead tend to focus more on fueling my body with as much nutrients as possible.
In the past when I would try fad diets, they would never last more than a few weeks, but when I changed my whole view on food and started looking at it towards fuel, everything changed!
One way that you can start fueling your body with nutrients more often is by adding leafy greens into your daily diet! I personally try and have a green with every meal! It’s something so small that can make all of the difference. Not only because leafy greens are packed with nutrients, but because once you start making small changes like this one, it will make you want to start making more small changes in other areas.
My favorite types of greens would be Baby Spinach (truly universal and can be used so many different ways!), Arugula (my favorite for a light, spring/summer time salad) and Baby Kale (my favorite for fall/winter time salads)!
FIVE WAYS TO ADD MORE LEAFY GREENS INTO YOUR DIET
By Adding A Handful of Spinach To Your Smoothies: This is such an easy way to get in your daily greens without even tasting it! I make a smoothie every single day and every single smoothie has a handful of baby spinach in it! You could also choose baby kale, but I definitely recommend baby spinach! If you’re someone who really struggles with eating greens, then I highly suggest this method!
Cooking/Baking Spinach Into Your Favorite Weekly Recipes: Whether it is scrambling them into egg whites, throwing a few handfuls of spinach into your spaghetti or mixing them into our favorite casseroles, spinach is truly universal! I’m telling, we throw a few handfuls into everything! I prefer spinach when cooking because it cooks down super fast and really easily. I love this method because it still allows you to still enjoy your favorite recipes, while also getting in some nutrients.
Add a Side Salad To Your Family Dinners: Instead of trying to force your family into having a salad as their main meal, try adding one as a side to your favorite dinner! Taylor Farms has a lot of different salad options, but I highly recommend this one (the Lemon Arugula Salad) from todays post!! Oh my g0sh – is it yummy and light! Not only is it delicious, but it is super easy to make since all of the ingredients come with it.
On the Go Greens for Lunch: If meal prepping isn’t your forte, then On-the-Go Salads are a great option! Skip the daily fast food line and grab a few pre-packed salads from your local grocery store at the beginning of the week! I suggest, this Southwest Chopped Salad, the Chicken Caesar Salad or the Spinach Salad from Taylor Farms! All three are low in sugar and calories but high in protein and nutrients!
Get Creative and Build Your Own Salad: Despite what you think, salads do not have to be boring and are truly so easy to make! When building a salad, I always follow the Fab Four Method (aka – a green, a protein, a healthy fat and fiber)! I’ll start by picking my leafy green (as I mentioned, I’m on a huge arugula kick right now!), then I’ll pick a lean protein (usually fish or chicken), a fruit (ex: blueberries or strawberries because they have a lot of fiber in them), a healthy fat (ex: avocado) and a little bit of olive oil with lemon juice as my dressing! So easy and so good! Taylor Farms has a ton of Salad Recipes to try as well!
What are some of your favorite ways to incorporate leafy greens into your daily diet!?
