Welcome Back Cuties!

This nighttime skincare post is long over due and my apologies it took me so long to put out! Truth be told, I wasn’t quite sure how I wanted to go about it or how I was going to format everything for you guys.

It’s no secret that I try out/use a lot of different products and unlike my Daytime Skincare Routine, I don’t have just one, seamless Nighttime Skincare Routine. Instead, I change my routine quite often and cater my  routine to what my skin needs on that specific day. Plus, now that I am pregnant, I had to figure out a way to share both my routine before pregnancy + during.

I think I figured it out though and hopefully you guys find it easy to follow! It’s very thorough though – so definitely be sure to take the time to read through it all!

Pregnancy Skincare Information

When it comes to my pregnancy skincare routine, I’ll be honest in that I didn’t 100% switch out all of my current skincare products to all natural ones. Instead, I talked to my doctor, found out the products/ingredients she suggested I should avoid, went through the ingredient list on my current routine, did some research and made switches where need be but thankfully majority of my products were okay!

Below are the ingredients you want to watch out for!

Retinol: A highly effective anti-aging substance (& sadly one of my favorites) that’s a  form of vitamin A which helps boost cell turnover.

Hydroquinone: Often found in skin lightening formulas and spot treatments. If you use anything to brighten dark spots, check the label for this ingredient.

Salicylic Acid — A common acne fighter.

NIGHTTIME SKINCARE ROUTINE

cleansing balm // daily cleanser // acne cleanser

Elemis Cleansing Balm

The most luxurious cleanser you will ever use! It’s an extremely gentle cleanser that dissolves makeup, daily grime and pollutants leaving your skin incredibly soft and nourished. I just put it all over my face and leave it on anywhere from 5-20 minutes while I get ready for bed. When I first heard about this product I thought “no way, that’s way too much work” but it’s actually not and I probably use it 4-5x a week which is way more then I ever thought! Sometimes if Colton and I are watching a show, towards the end I’ll go put it on and let it sit while we finish watching or I’ll put it on before I get in the bath and other times (aka most times) I put it on then go do other little nighttime routine things like get water, brush my teeth, load the dishwasher and etc.

Here is a more affordable option with the same concept! I have been trying it off and on for a few weeks and have been very impressed!

Kate Somerville Daily Foaming Cleanser

My go-to cleanser! If I’m not using the cleansing balm above then this is what I am using. I’ve been using it for years and love it! It’s a medicated daily foaming face wash that clears skin, unclogs pores, balances oily skin and minimizes the appearance of pores without irritating your skin or over-drying it .

Kate Somerville Acne Treatment Daily Cleanser

When my skin is acting up and I’m super breaking out – this is the cleanser I reach for. Colton and I both swear by it and his skin is much more sensitive than mine. He’s super prone to breakouts and also battles with rosacea and this is the only cleanser that has ever really worked on his skin or has made a difference.

make-up remover // cotton pads

I used regular makeup remover wipes for as long as I can remember but in the past year or so, I realized that they might have been the culprit for the damage I was noticing around my eyes, so I decided to start taking the extra step in using a more gentle approach to remove my eye makeup and let me tell you, it has done wonders. I’m honestly shook as to how such a small change has helped the appearance of lines around my eyes and the overall tired/puffiness of them.

All that I do is put a decently generous amount of the remover on a cotton pad, place over on my eye, hold it there for 5-10 seconds and then gently wipe away the makeup.

peel pads // balancing toner // lactic acid treatment

**NOTE**

Pre-pregnancy, I used all three methods above! Since the exfoliating peel pads should really only be used 2-3x a week and prior to pregnancy that’s what I did but now that I am pregnant, I have stopped using the peel pads and am just using the toner+ lactic acid treatment.

Dr. Dennis Gross Peel Pads

This extreme exfoliating treating helps to combat dullness, uneven skin-tones, pores, fine lines and wrinkles and should be used 1-2x a week! If you are in your mid-late 20s and haven’t added an extreme exfoliating treatment into your regimen, I would start! I decided to try this product after listening to a interview that Dr. Dennis Gross did on the The Skinny Confidential’s “His and Her Podcast”. I immediately bought/fell in love with it and haven’t looked back since. They also have a gental version available for those with sensitive skin!

It’s a two-step-five minute process. The first wipe exfoliates and smooths your skin while the second wipe works as an anti-aging neutralizer. I just take the wipes and wipe them all over my face/neck/chest until they are dry!

As I mentioned above, this product is not pregnancy safe because it has salicylic acid properties in it.

Tula pH Balancing Toner

I truly truly love this product! I’ve seen great results with it and think that it is priced very well. It’s essentially an alcohol-free toner that balances of the skin’s surface after cleansing to restore it to its ideal pH, leaving your skin less susceptible to overdrying and irritation. Since it has Glycolic and Hyaluronic acid in it, you could easily just use this product on its own and not use it with the Sunday Riley Treatment below. I personally use it by itself all the time! The glycolic acid in it gently exfoliates dull, lackluster skin, targeting pore-clogging dirt to help reveal a smoother, younger-looking complexion while the hyaluronic acid leaves skin visibly plump and hydrated.

Sunday Riley Good Genes Lactic Acid Treatment

If you want to take your skincare to the next level or have a lot of wrinkles to combat, then I highly recommend adding this product into your routine! With over 3k positive reviews online, this product is no joke. Clinically proven to plump the look of fine lines and wrinkles in as few as three minutes, it clarifies, smooths, and retexturizes the appearance of skin, fighting fine lines and wrinkles.

A few times a week, I will use it after applying my Tula Toner. Other times, I will use by itself as a daytime/morning mask by leaving it on for 15 minutes and then washing with water.

How I used these products pre-pregnancy

Dennis Gross Peel Pads: Sunday // Wednesday

Tula Toner + Sunday Riley Goode Genes: Monday // Tuesday // Thursday

Tula Toner (on its own): Friday // Saturday

retinol night oil // Kiehl’s hydrating oil

Retinol Night Oil

My favorite product in my nighttime skincare routine pre-pregnancy! This Retinol Night Oil is truly everything. So if you’ve been wanting to add retinol into your routine but haven’t known where to start, I recommend starting with this one! As I mentioned at the beginning, retinol is a highly effective anti-aging treatment and this product gives you all the benefits of that while also keeping your skin hydrated. Every time I use this product, I swear I wakeup with glowing skin. It’s incredible.

This product is not pregnancy safe due to the retinol in it.

Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Oil

Since I’ve had very dry skin this pregnancy and am not able to use my favorite retinol night oil from above, I bought this product to take its place! It came highly recommended by so many of you and so many of my closest girl friends, so I decided to give it a try and have been loving it! It’s an anti-aging night serum that hydrates skin overnight for a smoother-looking complexion and a radiant glow come morning.

retinol eye cream // complete eye cream

Retinol Eye Cream

My ride or die eye cream for the past few years.  It’s a firming eye cream with retinol in it that visibly firms, brightens and hydrates the eye area for a more youthful appearance both instantly and long-term. It even has a yellow kind of pigment to it that has drastically helped me with dark circles! I’m telling ya’ll, I’ve truly never seen an eye cream work as drastically as this one and I have tried so many. While I cannot use it while pregnant, I can’t wait to start using it again!

This product is not pregnancy safe due to the retinol in it.

Colleen Rothschild Complete Eye Cream

Another great eye cream that will give you instant results. This is the eye cream I have been using the most this pregnancy (both day/night) and truly cannot say enough good things about it. While it doesn’t have the super powers of retinol in it, it still has a powerful formula that boosts hydration, strengthens collagen, combats dark circles/puffiness and reduces the appearance of fine lines.

I’ve decided that post pregnancy I will continue using this product as my day time eye cream!

facial tanning drops

These magical little tanning drops will keep your face looking freshly sun kissed 24/7! All you have to do is add a drop or two of the product into your nighttime moisturizer and let it work its magic! I’m seriously obsessed with it. Just make sure you wash your hands afterwards because it will leave your palms orange.

CeraVe Night Cream

As I’ve mention, my skin has been very dry this pregnancy and after having so many of you guys recommend this product, decided to give it a try and have been using it the past few weeks! A little goes a long way and it’s seriously thick/hydrating so if you have super dry skin – definitely give it a go!

Olay Regenerist Nighttime Recovery Cream

If you have been following me for awhile, then you know that I love my Olay products! I could write on a novel on them and truly believe that they are just as effective as expensive brands like Le Mer.

You can read more about the science behind Olay here but basically, Olay has a patented ingredient called Niacinamide which is just a fancy word for Vitamin B3. It’s the only vitamin clinically proven to improve skin resilience, hydration, skin tone, smoothness, pore appearance, brightness and surface cell turnover. It’s in all of the Olay products but primarily in the regenerist line and in the recovery night cream above. I’ve tried so many moisturizers, even all the expensive ones and the regenerist line by Olay always keeps up.

Kate Somerville Anti-Aging Moisturizer

This product is a little pricier but if you are looking for an effective anti-aging moisturizer that you can use both morning/night than I highly recommend it! I’ve used it off and on for five years and it remains a favorite.

Elemis Pro-Collagen Night Cream

If you’re truly looking for a luxury nighttime moisturizer, then look no further! This Elemis Pro-Collagen Night Cream is everything of the sort. It’s extremely hydrating while also promoting collagen while you sleep. It’s truly incredible.

lineage lip mask

Last but not least – this nighttime lip mask by Laneige! Just put in on before you go to sleep (but after brushing your teeth) for perfectly hydrated lips the next morning!

Woof! That was long – I know! If you took the time to read through it all then you are a rockstar!
