Planning Teddy’s First Birthday Party

Welcome Back!

Teddy’s First Birthday party is next weekend and I honestly can’t believe how fast this year has gone by and that my baby is actually turning one. This time last year we were getting ready for my Baby Shower and now here we are throwing is first birthday?! Blows my mind.

Since planning this party is taking up a huge amount of my time though, I figured I’d take you guys along the way for the whole party planning process. Especially since there’s probably a handful of you guys trying to plan first birthday’s as well!

We decided to go with a Sail Boat/Nautical theme since he is a June baby. It was a suggestion by our close friends and we love it. It’s going to be at our house, with just immediate friends/family. This will mostly be an “adult oriented” party since most of our friends do not have children, so it’s been fun finding a way to make the party enjoyable for everyone, while also being centered around Teddy. It’s going to be ‘come and go’ so no one has to give up their whole Saturday afternoon, super laidback but also nice! All around should be a really good time.

THE INVITATION

**this is a sample invitation. The address/ phone number used above are not real. This was created to show the full invitation for anyone wanting to use it themselves**

I found these invitations through the Etsy shop ElliotLouiseDesigns. It was $12.99 for the digital file and all you have to do is have them printed. You can do this either at a place like Office Depot or you can have them printed at a local print shop near you!

My Step Dad actually owns a print shop in The Heights called, Quality Printing and he did the printing for us. His shop is actually super cool and while they do offer digital printing, they really specialize in letter press, gold leaf embossing & etc.. They use old school, vintage machines/techniques and they do an amazing work. He did all the printing for our wedding as well.

Anyways, here’s a link to his facebook page! His website is needs a major face lift (it’s actually something thats on my to-do list to help him with) but both his facebook & instagram are a little more up to date.

MY VISION & DESIGN BOARD

After I start to gain some inspo from Pinterest, I like to make one of these Design Boards (I use Canva) and it’s just a super easy way to lay out your vision and potential decor all in one place. This is something that helps me stay on theme, place different colors together, see what matches/what doesn’t and etc.

Everything above is pretty much all the decor I have bought so far!

One thing I’m trying to do is stay away from the “Piratey” side of this theme. I’m going for a more Ralph Lauren, East Coast Sailing Theme as opposed to shipwrecks, pirates and it becoming overally coastal if that makes senes and this is helping me do that!
