My Favorite Fashion Trends for Summer 2023

Linen

Specifically linen dresses.

Linen has been a summer staple for the last few hundred years. Ever since it was introduced in the late 1700’s. This light weight fabric has stood the test of time and thanks to TikTok and things like the “coastal grandmother”, it won’t be going anywhere, anytime soon.

It’s effortlessly classic and will keep you cool even on the hottest summer days. I think that every girl should at least have one mini linen dress in their closet. Either white or black (I have both). One pair of white linen pants and one pair of either black or white linen shorts.

Quiet Luxury

You might have heard the term “stealth” (meaning: silent wealth) thrown around recently. Which is essentially just another term for quiet luxury. It’s about looking expensive without screaming “look at how much this cost!”. It’s about taking the time to find timeless and sophisticated pieces, that are made to last and look great on you, all at the same time. Polished fits that you’ll be able to wear time and time again.

Sofia Richie Grainge’s resent rebrand is a great representation of this trend. Meredith Blake is another good one.

Brands to checkout: Reformation, Club Monaco, Tuckernuck and J. Crew. For more budget friendly options: Abercrombie, H&M (the key for shopping quality H&M is by online and not in store), Mango, and Banana Republic, J. Crew Factory.

Eyelet Everything

Tops, Dresses, Coverups and more!

Eyelet is and will always be a staple for spring//summer seasons but is definitely having a moment this year. Specifically for outfits that are mean’t to be more on the special occasion side. It can instantly elevate any basic outfit while still falling in the “staple wardrobe” category.

I currently have my eye on this white eyelet dress/coverup for Hawaii next month.

Bold & Bright Pops of Color

Specifically Pink, Green, Purple and Orange

Coming from a girl that was once notoriously known for only wearing neutrals, I’ve been gravitating towards color this season. There is just something about wearing a pop of color that instantly puts me in a better mood.

This is another one that is especially big for special events!! Top above is actually an amazon find.

Oversized Silk Scarves

Key word “oversized”.

This trend is very underrated (but is one of my personal favorites) because one scarf can take any basic look and elevate it instantly. The key is to make sure your scarf is over sized with a minimum 30×30 measurements.

I came across this Tiktok a few weeks ago and think the creator did a fabulous job show casings all the different ways to style a scarf.

Also, choosing a scarf that’s vintage or designer isn’t requirement… but it will definitely give your outfit that cool factor.

Vintage Scarves: herm´es scarf, celine scarf, another herm´es option, vintage ferragamo, another vintage ferragamo

Babydoll & PeplumTops

Growing up, these were the main styles for all tops in the spring/summer seasons. They dominated the market for more than 15 years, until around 2017 when the “crop top'” really took over.

Thanks to Gen Z and their obsession with y2k though, both styles are having a comeback and maybe it’s the ‘new mom/post partum body‘ in me but I’m personally here for it and am loving this trend.

I especially love any type of top that has a front tie!

Coastal Cowgirl

Straw western hats, cowboy boots, bikinis, levi’s.

She’s Texas meets the West Coast. Free spirited and effortlessly cool.

Her tan is natural and her nose is permanently sun kissed. She spends most of her time in a bikini and her favorite pair of shorts are her vintage Levi’s. She loves Tom Petty, 90’s country music and would choose a bon fire on the beach, over the clubs any of the week.

A few must have items include this straw western hat, these denim shorts, this crochet coverup, this eyelet blouse, tinted spf, a pooka shell necklace and cowboy boots.

Flip Flops

Yes, flip flops. The same sandals we grew up wearing (& probably picked up at old navy) are the “it” sandal of the summer. The original thongs, lmao.

While I can’t fully decide how I feel about this comeback, I do love this square toe option. These leather brown flip flops, are also currently in my cart.
