Birthday Traditions

Over the weekend, Teddy turned three and I can’t get over the fact that, I have three-year-old. It feels like it was just yesterday, we were bringing him home from the hospital! I guess it’s true when they say, “The days are long but the years are short” because the last three years have truly flown by.

Anyways, as Colton and I were sitting there blowing up balloons, late Saturday night. We started talking about birthday traditions. Discussing the few we’ve unintentionally already started with Teddy, the ones we grew up with and loved, one friends have told us about/have heard of from strangers over the years and etc.

That’s when I decided to ask you guys what your favorite birthday traditions were! Whether they’re traditions from your childhood or new ones that you started with your family. I thought it would be fun to share them on here, to help inspire others!

Birthday Traditions we have already started doing for Teddy…

  • Filling his bedroom with balloons the night before his birthday while he he’s asleep.
  • Waking him up by coming into his room, softly singing happy birthday with a birthday candle on his favorite donut to blow out.
  • Homemade birthday cake!
  • Taking a yearly photo for his Birthday Memory Book. This is something we just started doing. I love it because they are simple to keep up with but still super sweet and show all their different birthdays through the years as they grow up. We ordered this one!
