Happy Thursday Loves!
I am so, so incredibly excited to be sharing my Bridal Shower with you guys today! I know I’ve said this after every wedding event recently, but I have seriously never felt so loved. My girls seriously went all out and it was absolutely perfect! I truly couldn’t be more thankful.
It was a rose and champagne filled afternoon and I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way.
When my MOH Annie and I first started brainstorming for the shower, we knew immediately we wanted to have it at our best friend Laurel’s house. She has the most adorable home in the heights and we knew it would be perfect. At one point we thought about doing it at a restaurant but ultimately decided a home would be best because we could really make it our own. We wouldn’t have to spend a certain amount reserving a space and we wouldn’t have to worry about only having x amount a time.
When we asked Laurel, I had no idea she was going to go to the level she did. Her and her mother both….I mean above and beyond, absolutely gorgeous. They worked so hard to bring the vision to life.
She borrowed furniture from her parents home for the set up outside and we rented the green boxwood wall from Fleurista Designs for the picture-perfect backdrop!
It was a Rose Themed Shower, so we had lots of flowers to fit the theme. My Aunt Cindy is a florist in Austin, so she brought lots of roses with her, so she and my mom could put together the flower arrangements. Since it was held at 2:00 pm we had light bites and provided a spread for guests to make their own mini sandwiches. The desserts were out of this world as well! Especially the cake, which was not only beautiful but also delicious! Seriously, everyone was raving about it. We also had macaroons and the cutest bridal cookies as well. At one point, I swear girls were just surrounding the table eating the desserts from the very beginning lol.
We played one “bridal shower” game, which I thought was going to be corny but ended up being so fun! We brought everyone outside, did a toast and then played the game. My mom of course won, which is no shocker that she knows more about Colton and me’s relationship than anyone. We also had “advice cards” to fill out as well!
Then we cut the cake and opened gifts! I’m not going to lie, the entire time I was not planning on opening gifts in front of people until a few guests got a little upset that I wasn’t…. The truth is though, I wasn’t not opening them to be rude… I had just read over and over, on multiple wedding websites, that opening gifts were so “out” and that no one wants to sit through it. I thought I was doing everyone a favor lol!?!
Moral of the story – I was wrong and if you are having a bridal shower of your own, plan to open gifts!
Two of the best things we did for the shower was 1) Hire a Photographer and 2) Hire a Butler. Reason being, it let everyone enjoy the party without having worry about little things – especially our hostesses. It was so nice knowing someone was documenting everything and taking photos so we could enjoy ourselves. Plus, the photos turned out beautifully! If you’re looking to hire a photographer for your shower, I recommend doing a lot of research. Many photographers will overcharge for an event but I promise there are reasonably priced photographers out there. Then in regards to our butler, I cannot say enough things about our man Troy! Actually, Troy had worked a baby shower that Annie and I were at earlier in the year and fell in love with him there. We knew immediately we wanted him for the shower and he was so amazing. He made sure everyone had a full drink at all times and really helped restock everything/host. If we needed more ice or if more snacks needed to be put out, he did it all so that way the hosts didn’t have to worry about it!
Troy was absolutely the best!
After the party, we cleaned up but left the furniture in the yard for us to hang out and relax on. We brought out a charcuterie board, drank wine, laughed and read all of the advice cards.
It was truly the best day and I am so thankful for everyone who helped make my Bridal Shower so special.
Side note, Laurel is officially accepting applications to throw Bridal Showers for 2018!!! Lol justttt kidddingggggg, but seriously, she has a gift!
