Prime day is Amazon’s two-day sale, of more than one million deals
globally. Regardless of Prime Day though, if you are not an Amazon Prime Member, I 100% recommend becoming one. It costs $119 for the year and is worth every single penny. I kid you not, we live, breath and swear by Amazon Prime. It makes our life so easy! Once you’re a Prime member, you no longer have to pay for shipping, everything you order is delivered within two days or less (so many times it’s the day of!) and we always find the cheapest option on Amazon!

August Smart Lock

Okay – now onto the August Smart Lock!

As you guys saw on IG stories yesterday, we literally just got this bad boy in last night, but since it’s included in Amazon’s Prime Day and the fact that so many of ya’ll were interested in it, I wanted to give you an update!

So what is it?

The August Smart Lock is truly what it says in its name. It’s a “smart lock” for your home that allows you to turn your front door into a smart door, by allowing you to control and monitor it from anywhere. Lock and unlock your door, and keep track of who comes and goes, all from your phone. Give keyless entry to family and friends, or schedule access for home services without worrying about lost or copied keys.

Why did we want one?

Mainly because we travel SO much. We had been looking at them for over a year and after being gone as much as we have been this summer, we decided it was finally time! Every single time we go out of town, whether it’s my mom coming to pick up Bentley, Colton’s parents needing to pick something up while we’re away, my sister wanting to borrow clothes or my intern needing something off my desktop – every single time we go out of town, we have to deal with figuring out a way to let people in.

We also wanted it for security reasons. We already have this home camera so that we can monitor things while we are away and wanted to take our home security one step further with this lock! We love that it will notify us every time the door is being unlocked and that we will no longer have to worry about losing our keys or having them copied.

Was it easy to install?

Omg – yes! Okay, well….. I can’t actually take credit for it since Colton did the actual “installing part” but let me tell you, he installed it in less than 15 minutes. The August App really takes you step-by-step on how to do it and they really went out of the way to make the process as seamless as possible.

What about my current keys and lock?

With the August Smart Lock, you can still keep your existing lock and keys. It easily attaches to your existing deadbolt, so you can still use your existing keys at any time!

(If this is your concern – don’t worry! It was for me too!)

Favorite Features

Being able to unlock the door for our friends & family while away.
The instant notifications we get on our phone every time the door is unlocked.
The “automatic” unlock feature (note: you can turn this feature on or off) where the door will unlock as soon as your phone gets close to it and lock as soon as it’s not, without having to pull your phone out and open the app! This feature was a major bonus for me because I cannot tell ya’ll how many times I have gone up to my door with a million grocery bags and have had to set everything down because I can’t find my keys!
