Current Obsession: Podcasts

Happy Friday Loves & Cheers to the weekend!

To be completely honest, I feel as though this title is a little bit miss leading. It should say something along the lines of “I’ve been obsessed with Podcasts for the last year and idk why I am just now sharing it with you all”. Forgive me? K, cool!:)

In all seriousness though, I am absolutely obsessed with Podcasts and sometimes listen to them all day long. Before we moved offices, I was commuting 40 minutes, twice a day to work and back and Podcasts were my saving grace.

Now that our office is less that 10 minutes away, I still listen to them in the car, but I also listen to them all day at work, at the gym while I’m on the stair stepper and on my long walks with Bentley. Plus, the best part is that these Podcasts are completely free so you can literally listen to as many as you want for absolutely nothing.

I tend to lean towards more Entrepreneurial podcasts because I really want to be sure that I am taking something away from listening to them. I listened to get inspired and stay encouraged but that doesn’t mean I don’t have a few light hearted ones on my list!

How To Listen To Them

I personally like to listen to listen to all of these Podcasts through iTunes or my iTunes Podcast app on my iPhone. I just go to the app, type in the name of the podcast I am looking for in the iTunes Store search bar, click what I want and then press subscribe. Once I subscribe, they are always saved in my Podcast App and it lets me know which ones I have listened to and which ones I haven’t. It’s seriously super easy! Or if you are listening to them at work, do the same thing on your normal iTunes and listen/download like you would a song!

Okay, now onto my favorite Podcasts!

The Skinny Confidential Him & Her Podcast

Alright ya’ll, I know you’ve heard me mentioned this podcast to you before. Yes, I love it because I swear Lauryn Evarts is my spirit animal and that we should be best friends (creepy?) but I also love it because her podcast is filled with, in perfect Lauryn Evarts fashion, good shit

For those of you who are not familiar, Lauryn Evarts is the creator behind the blog, The Skinny Confidential.

The Podcast is produced by her and her husband, Michael Bosstick and I truly believe there is a little bit of something for everyone in this Podcast. If you’re a blogger or someone wanting to jump-start their entrepreneurial career, then this podcast is great because they give a lot, and I mean a lot of business and social media advice. Since it is a  Skinny Confidential production, you should also expect a lot of health, wellness and beauty tips in there as well. Another thing I love is that they do a lot of awesome interviews. From their family members & friends to amazing entrepreneurs like four-time NY Times bestselling author Gary Vaynerchuk, to hilarious interviews with people like Josh Oshtrovsky from The Fat Jew (who is also kind of a bad a*** entrepreneur too). I personally loved the one with Celebrity Nutritionist, Kelly LeVeque the most! I’ve listened to them all, but that particular one I listen to, then went and got my notebook and listened to it again so I could take notes. It was gold. You’ll laugh, you’ll learn something new and you will fall in love with Lauryn and Michael too.

Off The Vine with Kaitlyn Bristow

First things first, for those of you who do not know who Kaitlyn Bristow is, she was a contestant on the Bachelor a few seasons back, who went on to be the Bachelorette. She is one of the few people who have actually found love on the show and her and her fiance Shawn are serious goals.

This is the newest Podcast I have added to my list recently but let me tell you. You know how people binge watch shows on Netflix? Well, I binge listened to her Podcast.  It’s light-hearted and it will make you laugh. If I were to be completely honest, I think the reason I didn’t listen to it sooner is because I am really over the “Bachelor Nation” craze that’s going on right now.  Like, to me, and this may sound harsh….but I just don’t think they bring a lot of substance to the table….. but ya’ll Kaitlyn Bristow is everything.  She is so freaking funny and relatable it’s unreal. I mean, her Podcast is basically her sitting in a chair, drinking wine (get it, off the vine?) and talking into a microphone. I freaking love it.  She does a lot of celebrity interviews and the Podcast will just put you in a good mood. Let’s just say it’s #1 on iTunes for a reason.

How I Built This

If you are looking to get inspired, then this one is for you! How I Built This shares stories from Entrepreneurs across the world on how they built their empire. From Kendra Scott, to Zappos, to Buzzfeed, Air BnB and Instagram, their founders are sharing it all. I love this podcast because it is short, it changes every week and you’ll take a lot away from it.

The Lady Gang

Alright guys, this is the one that I like to call my Guilty Pleasure Podcast. It’s crude but hysterical and sometimes you need what feels like some serious girl talk. Hosted by Keltie Knight, Jac Vanek and Becca Tobin, these women do not hold anything back. Each week they interview a new celebrity guest and get the real story on what it is like to live in this crazy Hollywood World. Forwarning – it’s very vulgar!

Joel Olsteen

All thoughts and opinions on Joel Olsteen aside (I know everyone has their own personal opinions on him) I personally love his Podcast. It’s really just a recording of his sermon from the weekend before, but I love it.

No matter what, every time I listen to his Podcast, somehow whatever he is talking about totally and completely relates to my life. His words make me feel good and I always feel closer to God after listening. He relates things to the bible in a way that every person listening can understand. Sometimes I feel like he is more of a motivational speaker than a preacher, but I don’t really care because he has helped me overcome numerous personal struggles this past year. His wife Victoria also has a few episodes on there but I do not like hers nearly as much.

If you’re kinda sorta somewhat Christian, or if you don’t really know what you are and you want to start going to church but don’t really know where to start then this is the perfect Podcast for you. Heck, I know people who are very devout Christians or are very devout Catholics and they love his podcast too. It just gives you a different outlook on life. I personally love it.
