Hello from Austin!
Colton and I drove up early yesterday morning for a quick little trip. His company has a branch here and he usually comes up once a month for training. Most of the time (aka, always) I stay back, but my best friend just moved here and it was her birthday, so he let me tag along!
It has been a little over a week since I have been in an “official office” but I still find myself putting on my office wear daily. I guess I’ve just grown super accustomed to it. Lucky for you guys, because workwear inspiration is the number one thing you all asked for on Insta Stories at the beginning of the year.
This is so embarrassing, but I kid you not, I wore this outfit to the office at least once a week.
It’s just, this is kind of the perfect everyday office outfit. It’s cute and comfortable, but very work appropriate. Depending on the type of office you work at, some of you may work in settings that have a stricter dress code, but mine was very relaxed and this was my go too.
This outfit, all together is adorable, but it is the key individual pieces in it, that make it so great. Aka – the cardigan, trousers, nude pumps, classic camisole and work tote. If you’re currently building your office wardrobe, all five of those are a must!
If you are new to an office, you’ll learn quickly that a cute cardigan is an absolute necessity. I’ll let you in on a little secret, all offices are freezing! Why this is, I have no idea, but I promise you that cardigans like this one, will become your new best friend. I also love to wear loose fitting trousers because they are so comfortable it’s unreal. You’ll learn to love them and truly appreciate them once you realize how old it gets wearing your average pants suit or work dress. They are just easy to throw on and they go with everything.
Another trick I have learned along the way is that in order to dress up any work outfit, just add a pair of nude pumps. They can instantly transform any outfit. If you’re looking to invest on a pair of pumps, then these Jimmy Choos are the way to go. They are hands down the most comfortable heels I have every worn. But, if you’re not quite ready to pull the plug on such an expensive pair, then I also love these Kate Spade ones, that are more of a mid-price pair. I bought them right when I graduated and loved them! If you’re really looking to save though, then these Steve Madden ones are my first pick!
Then last but not least, you’ll for sure want a basic white camisole that you can wear with almost every outfit and a large but nice work tote.
Next week I’ll be sharing a full guide on exactly what to buy to build your office wardrobe, but until then, I think this is a good start!
