Bonobos Henley Top // Bonobos Pants

Hello, hello and Welcome Back!

I’m truly so excited to partner with Bonobos for todays post!

One of my absolute favorite things about blogging, is having the opportunity to work with brands that are near and dear to my heart, Bonobos being one of them!  As I have told you guys a million times, I have been buying Bonobos for Colton for years, so it’s just really fun to be able to work with a brand that I admire so much! Another one of my favorite things about blogging is having the ability to connect directly with so many of my readers!! Whether it’s through direct messages and polls on Instagram stories, or emails and comments left here on the blog itself, I love getting to hear directly from you guys!

A question that I have been getting more and more recently is, “How Colton and I Keep Our Marriage Fresh and Fun“. When I first started getting asked this question, I didn’t really know what to say, nor thought that I was the right person to ask because we’re still technically only in our first year of marriage – lol! The more I thought about it though, the more I realized that we may know a thing or two more than I was giving ourselves credit for. In case you are new to my blog, Colton and I were recently married this past May, but have been together for almost eight years, so it truly feels like we have been married for much longer! So while we are still newlyweds, who are not perfect and are growing and learning every single day, I am proud of our marriage and may just have a little bit of advice to give. Advice that I have been given from others and things that we have picked up throughout the years.

Before I get into everything though, I want to shine some light on Bonobos. Aka – Colton’s favorite brand!  As I’ve mentioned before (you can find previous posts here, here & here) we first found Bonobos when Colton was looking for new clothes for work, right after college. He truly could have cared less about fashion or style at the time, but as soon as he tried on their clothes and saw how they fit him, how he looked in everything and how felt in them, everything changed. The first piece of Bonobos clothing that he ever tried on, was a pair of their Weekday Warrior Pants and now that he owns over 10 pairs of Weekday Warriors (literally not even kidding you), he has started to get more adventurous by adding more pants like the Stretch Wash Chinos into is wardrobe! The Chinos are actually what he is wearing in today’s post and he loves them!! Especially for the weekends and  more casual settings when he doesn’t necessarily want to be in his work pants. Which I can totally get!

If you’re wanting to buy your husband a pair of Bonobos pants, to introduce them into the brand, then you can’t go wrong with either one of these selections! Maybe introduce him to the Weekday Warriors first (like I did with Colton) and then ease them into the Chinos, but at the end of the day, you know your man, his closet, what he needs and doesn’t need!

**Don’t forget that Bonobos has free shipping and returns too (!!)**

Now – onto how we keep our relationship fresh and fun!!

As I mentioned above, we are not perfect, nor know everything about marriage but we do work hard on our relationship every single day. If you have any more suggestions or thoughts on all of these, please leave them in the comments section below!:)

5 Ways We Keep Our Marriage Fresh

Scheduled Date Nights

At least once a week, or once every two weeks, Colton and I schedule a date night. Whether we decide to grab happy hour at our favorite sushi place, make reservations at a fancy restaurant or just decide to order in Thai and watch a movie, at least once a week, we have a date night with just the two of us. I know that having a date night once a week is something we may not be able to do forever (trust me, I’m completely aware that kids change everything), but I like that we are already practicing the importance of making time for this and understand just how necessary making time for each other and connecting with one another through a date night can be.

Quality Time (without phones)

Just like every single one of you reading this, our schedules are crazy……especially mine since I’m not strictly 9-5. My schedule is truly all over the place and it’s easy for me to want to work until the wee hours of the night and the fact that a huge part of my business is done through my phone, doesn’t help either. We try our hardest though, every single day, to have quality time where we just disconnect and spend time together. Whether it’s watching a one of our favorite TV shows with our phones down, taking less than 10 minutes to sit in the kitchen and ask about each others day or the two of us taking Bentley out for his afternoon walk together, as opposed to doing it alone. It doesn’t have to be long, but the consciences effort is important.

Random Acts of Kindness

One way we keep things fresh and show our love for one another are through random acts of kindness. Whether it’s me, picking Colton up a cupcake, just because I am driving by Crave and know that he loves them or it’s Colton stopping by the store to grab a bottle of wine on his way home from work, simply because he knows that I have had a long day. We are constantly thinking about the other person and finding ways to make each other smile. These random acts of kindness do not have to be big nor bought either. For example, never underestimate the power of a compliment. If Colton comes home during lunch and he looks handsome, you bet your bottoms I’m going to tell him. Then little hand written notes are a really sweet gesture as well. Colton is usually up and out of the house before 7am and the mornings that he leaves little notes by my bedside table to wake up too are my absolute favorite mornings.

We Keep Our Calendars Busy – With Fun Things!

While we can definitely be homebodies, we still love to travel, throw parties and have get togethers with friends and family. We love to go to concerts, festivals and sports games -and just love having fun! Yes, we make time to relax and recoup, but we also keep our calendars busy with fun things and events to look forward too. Especially new ones that we can experience together!

Have a Childlike Mentality

I heard this piece of advice on a podcast once and it has truly stuck with me. Life can be so tense. It’s hard, it’s challenging and stressful but if you can try your hardest to let your guard down, be goofy and have fun with your partner, it will make all of the difference. Laugh, be silly, chase each other around. Life is too short to be so serious all of the time.

xo,

Lauren
